FBI lists former Olympian as most wanted, announcing a $10 million reward: List of charges against him

The FBI added a former Olympian and a Canadian national to its list of the top 10 most wanted fugitives on Thursday.

The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the capture of Ryan Wedding, 43. Wedding, who represented Canada in snowboarding at the 2002 Winter Olympics, is accused of operating a "transnational drug trafficking network."

FBI Los Angeles Chief Akil Davis explained in a Thursday press conference that Wedding's trafficking organization "routinely transported hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and Southern California to Canada and other parts of the U.S.," and was also involved in orchestrating multiple murders and an attempted murder to further their drug operations.

"Wedding transitioned from competing in snowboarding at the Olympics to distributing cocaine in U.S. cities and his native Canada," Davis remarked.

Davis also emphasized the danger Wedding poses due to the alleged murders of his competitors, saying, "His addition to the list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, along with the significant reward offered by the State Department, will encourage the public to help us catch him before he harms anyone else."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio approved the $10 million reward for Wedding’s capture, and the FBI is also offering an additional $50,000 for any information that leads to his arrest.

Wedding had previously been convicted in the U.S. for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, and was sentenced to prison in 2010, according to federal records. The FBI reports that he uses several aliases, including "El Jefe," "Giant," "Public Enemy," "James Conrad King," and "Jesse King." He is described as being approximately 6'3" tall and weighing 240 pounds.

An arrest warrant for Wedding was first issued in September of the previous year, but he remains at large.

The announcement follows the recent capture of one of Wedding’s alleged accomplices, 34-year-old Andrew Clark. Clark, a Canadian citizen living in Mexico, was arrested by Mexican authorities in October 2024 and is scheduled to face arraignment in U.S. District Court in Arizona on Monday.

Federal authorities have stepped up efforts to combat drug trafficking across both U.S. borders under the new leadership of FBI Director Kash Patel.

The indictment against Wedding claims that he and his associates conspired to ship hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Los Angeles to Canada using long-haul semi-trucks.

Wedding faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to export cocaine, operating a continuing criminal enterprise, murder in connection with a continuing criminal enterprise and drug crimes, and attempted murder in relation to the same activities.
